إخوة الإسلام

ـ إن للمسجد دورا عظيما في حياة المجتمع المسلم، ولا يقتصر هذا الدور على صلاة الجمعة فقط كما يظن البعض منا،

ففي عهد رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) وصحابته كان للمسجد دورا بارزا في حياة المسلمين، فلم يقتصر دور المسجد آنذاك على الصلاة بل كان المسجد قلب الدولة المسلمة ومنارة العلم.

ليكن المسجد في حياتنا ملتقى لكل مسلم، نوحد فيه صفوفنا ونعمق أواصر المحبة والإخاء بين المسلمين، ليكن المسجد نقطة انطلاق لإيمان راسخ وطاعة مثلي، ففي محراب المسجد وبين سواريه يتقرب المسلم لربه فيتعلم ويعلم ما ينفعه وينبت الحق والصبر والثبات التي أخبرنا بها ربنا أنها عوامل النجاح، قال الله تعالى " والعصر إن الإنسان لفي خسر إلا الذين آمنوا وعملوا الصالحات وتواصوا بالحق وتواصوا بالصبر".

Many of us treat Masjids as a place of Jumaa prayer only.

But Masjids has other important roles to play in any Muslim community

During the time of the prophet and the Sahaba the Masjid played an important role in the Islamic Society.  The Masjid at that time of the Prophet was more than a place of prayer; it was an institution and it was the central core of the Muslim Community.

The Masjid should serve as the focal point for all community members that unifies their lines, strengthens their brotherhood and sisterhood, and enables them to perfect their Iman and righteousness. 

It is also to help and encourage people to perform more righteous deeds.  As well as to support them in establishing the mutual teaching and adherence of Truth, patience, and constancy;  the very elements of  success laid down by Allah in Suratul Asr.

 كانت أول أعمال أستاذ الإنسانية محمد (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) بناء مسجد في المدينة مع أصحابه ومنذ ذاك الوقت وفي ذاك المسجد إعتاد الصحابة أن يلتقوا  حول نبيهم ليتعلموا القرآن والسنة ويتفقهوا في  دينهم، وأدار رسول الله ( صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) شئون الأمة كلها صغيرها وكبيرها من المسجد وجهز رسول الله ( صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) من المسجد الجيوش وعقد الألوية وانطلق منه الفرسان ،وكان الرسول (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) يفصل ويقضى بين المسلمين في تلك البقعة المطهرة ويستقبل الوفود التي  كانت تفد عليه في المسجد لإعلان إسلامهم.

 The first thing that the prophet did when he settled in Madina was to establish the Masjid with his companions.

From that time, the Masjid was the place where Muslims gathered around the prophet to learn Quran, listen to his sayings and gain their knowledge of their religion.

The prophet conducted all the affairs of the Muslim community from the Masjid as well:

·       It was the place of organizing the ranks of fighters in the way of Allah as they were sent on their missions of Jihad.

·       It was also the place for settling disputes among Muslims.

·       Also, it was the place for meeting delegates who

·       came to the prophet to announce their Islam

 قال (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) "من غدا إلى المسجد لا يريد إلا أن يتعلم خيرا أو يعلمه كان كأجر حاج تاما حجه" فهنا يؤكد رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) بعدا آخر للمسجد بجانب أداء الصلوات

ولم يقتصر الدور التعليمي للمسجد على الرجال بل نافست عليه النساء لما أخرجه البخاري عن أبى سعيد الخدري قالت النساء للنبي" غلبنا عليك الرجال فاجعل لنا يوما من نفسك فوعدهن يوما وعظهن وأمرهن" وقد أعجبت السيدة عائشة ام المؤمنين بإقبال نساء الأنصار على العلم فقالت "نعم النساء نساء الأنصار لم يمنعهن الحياء من التفقه في الدين" 

The prophet said: “whoever comes to the Masjid and only intends to learn and teach Knowledge, will get the reward of a complete Hajj.”

Here the prophet confirms that the Masjid has an important function besides establishing the five daily prayers.

The early Muslim women also competed with Muslim men in seeking Knowledge at the Masjid.

They said to the prophet; “Men get benefit of your knowledge more than we do, so make for us separate circles.” The prophet promised to teach them and he did.

Aesha admired the efforts made by the Ansar women in seeking knowledge,

She said: “The best women are the women of Al-Ansar, “Shyness did not prevent them from learning Fiqh.”

 أما الآن فانظر إلى حالنا مع المسجد فغالبنا يهجره طوال الأسبوع حتى إن المسجد يشكو من قلة المصلين وأنشطة المسجد لا تجد لها حضورا فالسواد الأعظم منا يفضل قضاء جل وقته بعيدا عن المسجد وأنشطته مع جمع المسلمين

 Nowadays the Masjid is deserted most of the day and even most of the week. The attendances of the Jamaa prayers are very low.  Activities in the Masjid are very limited with little or no attendance. 

We prefer to spend time our time away from the Masjid rather than coming to the Jamaa Prayers and participating in Masjid activities with our fellow Muslims.

 علينا كأفراد وجماعات أن نستشعر ذاك الدور العظيم الذي يؤديه المسجد في حياتنا خاصة ونحن نعيش في بلد غير مسلم. ولنعي جيدا أنه كلما زاد وتعمق ارتباط المسلم بالمسجد وأنشطته كلما ذلك بالنفع على المسلم وعلى أسرته وعلى مجتمعه وعلى دينه.

Brs. and Srs.

The Masjid should play its critical role in our lives as members of a Muslim community.  It should be more critical for us as we live in a non-Muslim Country.

We must strengthen our connection to the Masjid and its activities for the benefit of our own selves, our families, our community, and the benefit of our noble Deen.

 إن الله عز وجل حين يستعرض حقيقة عمارة المسجد يحصرها في أصحاب العقيدة والإيمان قال الله تعالى "إنما يعمر مساجد الله من آمن بالله واليوم الأخر وأقام الصلاة وآتى الزكاة ولم يخش إلا الله فعسى أولئك أن يكونوا من المهتدين" إننا في أمس الحاجة إلى عمارة المسجد بالصلاة والمشاركة في الأنشطة الأسبوعية حتى وإن لم يتوافق ذلك مع رغباتنا أو يتماشى مع أوقاتنا.                                                                                       

مر رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) بجماعة من الصحابة يذكرون الله فاستحلفهم أنه ما أجلسهم إلى هذا ثم بشرهم بأن جبريل أتاه وقال "إن الله يباهى بهؤلاء الصحابة الملائكة ".  

Attendance at the Masjid means belief in Allah as Allah says what may be translated as: “Masjids are only habituated by those who have faith in Allah and the Last Day. They are steadfast in prayers. Give Zakat and fear only Allah.”

We need to enhance our attendance in the jamaa prayers and weekly activities even if it does not match our schedules or suit our desires.

The prophet told some of the Sahaba who were sitting at the Masjid remembering Allah: “Jibreel came to me and told me that Allah boasts about you to the angels.” 

 قال (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) "عليكم بالجماعة فإنما يأكل الذئب من الغنم القاصية" وذاك الذئب الذي أخبر به (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) ينتظر من هجر وترك المسلمين وهجر جماعتهم ومسجدهم، فالذئب هو الشيطان الذي يوسوس في صدور المسلمين ويبعدهم عن الجماعة والمسجد، إنه متاع الغرور الذي يميت التقوى في القلوب .

 The prophet also Said; “….. Stick to the jamaa, the wolf eats only from the sheep that is strayed from the flock.”

The wolf that the Prophet, pbuh, talks about here is out there waiting for the stray among us who desert the jamaa and who desert the Masjid. 

It is the evil that attacks the hearts that are not attached to the Masjid.  It is the Shaytan that makes it appealing to us to stay away and even enjoy our time away.  It is the false joy that destroys piety in our hearts.

وفقني الله وإياكم للزوم الجماعة وعمارة المسجد  .                                                    ا

 May Allah help us stick to the jamaa and attach our hearts to the Masjid.

In the second Khutbah

الخطبة الثانية                                                      

إخوتي في الله يجب علينا أن نتكاتف سويا لنعطى للمسجد حقه لنحي المسجد بإعماره خمس مرات في اليوم والليلة.                                                                                      

لنجتمع في تلك الأنشطة التي تزيد تآلفنا وتمحو جهلنا وتضاعف أجرنا عند خالقنا.           

لنكن مع أولئك الذين يشاركون ويبدعون في تلك النشاطات التي تجمع قلوب المسلمين وتفيدهم في دنياهم وأخراهم.                                                                               

وقبل كل ذلك لنحافظ على بقاء المسجد كما نحافظ على بقاء بيوتنا، ولنملأ المسجد بالحياة والبهجة ولنشارك في نظافته وفرشه وصيانته.                                                         

ليكن المسجد حصنا ومأوى ندفع به تلك الشرور التي تعج بها دنيانا.                             

وأخيرا ليكن المسجد لكل منا مطية وطريقا ممهدا للنجاة في الدنيا والفوز بالآخرة.               

Brs. and Srs.

Let us all pull together and give the Masjid its worthiness in our lives.  Let us make this place come alive five times a day at Jamaa prayer.

Let us gather in activities that will increase our harmony, our knowledge, and our reward on the Day of Judgment.

Let us be among those who would initiate creative activities that would be appealing to this community to facilitate their getting together in ways most useful to them.

And most of all let us ensure that we preserve the existence of the Masjid like we preserve our own homes.  Fill it with life and joy.  Furnish it adequately and maintain it clean and functional.

The Masjid to us should be the fortress and the shelter that protect us from the evil in this dunya.

The Masjid to us should be there to pave the way for the Muslim to gain Salvation in this life and the Hereafter.
